Cambodia - Day 2

Early start for Teen Challenge following Vut the new Director as we wound our way through the early traffic of mainly motor bikes with parents taking their children to school. After a couple of hours we arrived at the peaceful country setting where the boys and girls warmly greeted us. Official introductions, songs including "10 Thousand Reasons" and lots of good cheer, we presented gifts to all of the participants. Their hearts were really touched as one by one they came to receive their beautifully wrapped presents. Within no time new clothes were being worn, bubbles being blown and skipping ropes were being swung.

We shared a special Christmas lunch, including roast chicken and beef salad which was a luxury for the Teen Team. Lunch was completed with much bonding and praise and worship songs.

After lots of farewells we returned to Phnom Penh to the majestic Riverside where we strolled alongside the mighty Mekong River to board the "Crocodile Boat" for a twilight cruise (there are no crocodiles in the Mekong!). We ventured to the opposite shore to sail close to a floating village of Vietnamese fishing families as their children happily waved in their pyjamas as they played before bed.

A great day concluded at the Titanic Restaurant where we dined on the local favourite "Fish Amok" overlooking the river by night before our first tuk tuk in convoy trip back to the hotel.
