Cambodia - Day 1 (read more)

Wow: this place is amazing and we have spent the first day in the sights and sounds of busy Phnom Penh after a group breakfast in the peaceful garden patio of Frangipani 90's and the very sweet service of the hotel staff.

First stop was the bustling Central Market with a 1001 different goods and merchandise for the local and visitor alike. Cambodian silverware, traditional silk table runners, multi coloured fresh flowers and live chickens and crayfish just to name some!

Next stop S21 - the gruelling reminder of one of the worst atrocities in modern history as we were led through the torture cells and exposed to images of evil and human suffering beyond imagination.

After a wonderful Khmer lunch we arrived at the Killing Fields - another horrific monument to the mass evil that engulfed this nation that occurred in the lifetime of many of us.

Sunday worship was with our beautiful friends at New Life Church as we heard a riveting and very animated message on 'How to evangelise using our personal testimony' from visiting pastor Kim Ryan from Rick Warren's Saddleback.

The day concluded with taking some of the leaders from New Life Church to Khmer Surin for some more delightful local cuisine before our first tuk tuk ride in the warm night back to the hotel.
